“. . . Each painting provides a unique opportunity to capture the viewer’s reactions to the artist’s impressions of a scene. I strive to invoke a certain mood in my paintings with bold color and the way light hits and interacts with the subjects. I am fascinated with the idea of taking a white canvas and saturating it with intense color, light, and value to create a sense of time and place. Hopefully, the viewers can use their imaginations, as well as their eyes, to grasp the essence of ‘being there’ as I was when creating the painting.”
JANE E. KIRKPATRICK attended the York Academy of Arts, studying under William Faulkner while in high school from 1963 through 1967. She received her degree in Art from Southern Seminary College, graduated 1969. She has attended several workshops, including a workshop with Albert Handell.
Jane is a member of the Shenandoah Valley Art Center, winner of the “Peoples Choice Award” in 1986 and a member of the Upstate Visual Arts, MAC in Greenville, South Carolina along with being a participant in many group shows.
Jane also has painted for private homes and in 2007 completed a series of paintings hanging in a Greenville, South Carolina establishment. Most recently, a painting was purchased by PHR Gold Key Corporation and exhibited at a Virginia Beach, Virginia hotel.
